Terms of Service

Last updated October 8, 2026

These terms are a contract between you and Fridge Sleuth. They are not a substitute for advice from a lawyer. You agree to them by checking the box that says you are 18 or older and agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not check that box and do not use Fridge Sleuth.

Who can use Fridge Sleuth

You must be 18 or older to create an account and to pay. Fridge Sleuth is for people in the United States only, for your own personal cooking use. Do not scrape, resell, or redistribute the service or its output.

AI and food safety

Recipes are AI-generated. They are not allergen, medical, or dietary advice. Always verify ingredients before cooking.

Recipes, ingredient lists, quantities, cook times, and food images are generated by AI. They can be wrong, incomplete, or unsafe. Ingredient detection can miss foods, mislabel them, or miss allergens in packaging and sauces. Food images are AI-generated pictures, not photographs of a real dish you will cook.

Fridge Sleuth is not medical, dietary, or allergen advice. Allergy and dislike filters try to exclude foods you list. That is not a guarantee. Even if you saved allergies on your profile, you must still read every ingredient list and decide what is safe for you.

You are responsible for checking ingredients, allergens, cooking temperatures, spoilage, and cross-contamination before you cook or eat anything. You assume the risk of cooking and of any illness or injury that follows.

Photos and acceptable use

Upload fridge photos, optional pantry photos, and optional recipe-card (front and optional back) or dish photos for family recipes. Do not upload photos of other people, children, mail, medications, or anything you do not have the right to send. We may refuse, remove, or hide uploads, including after automated moderation.

License

You keep whatever rights you have in your photos and in family recipes you add. You grant Fridge Sleuth a license to store them and send photos to our vendors so we can detect ingredients, moderate uploads, and generate recipes and images. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive license to use recipes the service gives you, recipes you save, or recipes you add for your own cooking. That is not a right to publish the app's output as your own product.

Payments and refunds

Fridge Sleuth is free to start. A free account gets one Home scan a day and 4 AI recipes from that scan. The day changes at midnight in Denver. A subscription includes 3 Home scans a day. A weekly plan can be generated twice, and 10 meals on that week can be replaced with a new recipe.

A subscription is $9.99 a month, $28.47 every 3 months, $53.95 every 6 months, or $99.99 a year. Each charge is one period. It is a recurring digital purchase. You are not buying a guarantee the recipes will be useful. You can cancel in the Stripe customer portal from Profile. Canceling stops the next charge and leaves access until the period you already paid for ends. Unused months are not refunded. Stripe processes the charge. Fridge Sleuth never stores raw card numbers.

All sales are final once a subscription charge succeeds. We refund only if Stripe charged you but the subscription never became active, if you were charged twice for the same period, or if the charge was unauthorized. We do not refund because you disliked the recipes. Applicable taxes may be added. If we refund a charge, we end the access that charge paid for.

Stripe's terms also apply to payments. Google's terms also apply if you sign in with Google.

Limitation of liability

Fridge Sleuth is provided "as is." We do not warrant that scans, recipes, or images are accurate, complete, or fit to eat. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for cooking outcomes, foodborne illness, allergic reactions, or other damages from using the service. If we are liable anyway, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the relevant subscription charge.

Accounts and deletes

We may suspend or end an account for abuse, fraud, or legal risk. The service may be unavailable, changed, or discontinued. Friends-and-family beta use is as-is. We do not promise uptime.

"Delete this scan" hides the scan from Home. Photos and recipes stay in the system. Cookbook saves stay. "Delete account" frees your email, unlinks Google, and hides your scans. Photos and recipes still stay. See the Privacy Policy for what we collect and how to ask for a harder deletion.

Our marks and your feedback

Fridge Sleuth's name, interface, and generated assets are ours. If you send feedback or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.

If you upload content you do not have the right to use, or use the service in a way that harms someone else, you agree to cover Fridge Sleuth for the resulting claims and costs.

Changes, law, and contact

We may change these terms. We will post the new version here with an updated date. Continued use after that date means you accept the change.

These terms are the entire agreement between you and Fridge Sleuth about the service. If a court finds one part unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a part one time, we can still enforce it later.

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where Fridge Sleuth is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Fridge Sleuth is not a charity and does not collect donations.
